About Rubondo Island
An island apart
In the south-west of Lake Victoria
Rubondo Island National Park is a forested island in the southwest of Lake Victoria, a rare sanctuary where introduced chimpanzees are being habituated alongside elephant, sitatunga and prolific birdlife.
It is one of Tanzania’s most off-the-map parks — reached by light aircraft or boat, and visited by so few that every discovery feels like your own.
